When on a Shoe String Budget

Posted in Archived Articles on September 29th, 2010

These days if you have not started doing an inventory of your expenses you really need to. Why? Because things are going to get even more expensive. I am not talking about gas either. I am talking about food and housing. Heat and electricity are going up in price and as we as consumers purchase products that demand that energy we are going to pay the price. I think we the consumers need to demand a few things as we pay that higher price. Don’t you?

Here is what i would like to see. The properties that are burning energy every night to keep the parking lot lights on all night should pay a higher price. I know there is a commercial rate and a residential rate but as i change my ways by replacing light bulbs, turning down my furnace and keeping the lights down it pisses me off that our cities and businesses can be so waist-full and not changing a damn thing. The same 400 watt high preasure sodium bulbs are still blasting light out at 3 in the morning on an empty parking lot.

I know our school system invested in to motion detectors in the hall ways of the schools. When no one is in the hall way the darn lights turn off and only turn on when motion is detected. What an idea. I can not believe that our legislation has not made a demand on the energy that is being burnt up for no reason at all. We use to be the land of plenty with more than enough to go around. But not today!

The land of the plenty is turning into the land of conserving and protecting. Where we got off on our glutton ways is starting to bite us in the ass. And I don’t want my ass to pay for the glutton businesses and Government waist anymore. I feel that the people are doing what it takes. We make sacrifices because we have to and it is time to let our legislators understand that the lights need to get turned off when they are not being used. I want you to understand that the lights are just the one thing that we can see being abused. How about the things we can not see? The things that are not so right out in the front where they can be observed by the average person like me.

What gets me as prices were going up ten years ago and the credit industry was in a sham no one could see the writing on the wall. Ten years ago i saw what was coming in our economy. I did not want to see things come to where we are today, but none the less we are here and it is gone. The things we had are gone and will take many, many years to get a portion of it back. I think that most Americans that invested into a home and worked for a retirement age before 60 lost a huge portion of their savings.

I can say in one sweep I lost close to 100k in one year. I threw up and wondered what the hell happened. But I knew and had to accept the fact that i was just ripped off by the banks and wall street. My home alone lost 40k overnight. My savings account dwindling trying to keep up with the rising expenses, like gas when it almost hit $5 bucks a gallon. Did anyone else notice that two weeks after the bank stimulus package was granted that the gas price tumbled? Did anyone else notice that when BP’s oil spill was going on that gas prices did not go up at all? When ever we had an oil spill in the past the price of oil went up. In matter of fact the pipe line that busted in Michigan this year had an effect of .20 cents on the gas prices from Chicago, where the pipe line goes to from Canada. all the way to us in Northern Michigan, but yet the 10 million gallon spill into the Gulf of Mexico had no effect at all. Who in the hell is controlling this crap and how are they lie to us today?

I do not think I am stupid and have a bit of common sense, but I am bewildered that if these things are that obvious to me as why they are not as obvious to others. Or maybe it is and it is just as easy not to say a darn thing. I think it is easier to get people attention about news of a beat up kitty cat on YouTube that will receive 10 million hits in a day and the President of the United States only receives 1 million hits on a Important issue like 10 billion dollars and how you can get some of it. Where the heck are we in thought actually?

Well that is my rant and rave for the day. As i keep my expenses down to the minimum as work is at a minimum, I am learning and wanting to save even more money. I am happy that I bought my three pane windows six years ago. They have lowered my heating bill to less than $90 average a month for the year. Now I am tackling the electric bill which is higher than our heating costs.

Oh one more thing. Another indicator to bad economics is the United States Postal Service. Here is a question for you that should put you into the severalty of our economic situation. How much of a percentage of increase has the average postal stamp gone up since Reagan Presidency and he put us into the Trickle Down Economics Policy he pushed through. In my opinion we are still feeling the effects of that today. As far as Clinton goes he sold our military which created the biggest arms embargo in history, that is what created the Governmental surplus that every one gives him credit for. I say Bull Shit. Oh and please would somebody please strike Nixon, a guilty criminal, from ever being mentioned again. I say Bull Shit and I am really tired of throwing up over things I have no control over but should and so should you. Please Vote
